Jennifer Monk--Hatha, Hatha Flow, Cosmic Fountain of Youth Series
Jennifer first started learning yoga when her daughter was born. Having heard of yoga and been interested in learning it, she took the first step and read a book. Originally wanting to get back into shape, she soon realized that it was a good way to become a better mother, wife, person. She kept practicing.

Five years later, having accomplished movement toward her  goal of being a better mother, wife, person, she began to question her real purpose in life. Through yoga she realized that her purpose for life, or dharma, was to help people. She had always thought it would take a lot of money to help people, and was in a dilemma because she did not have money. She left it up to faith and asked to find ways to help even though she had little money to give. A week or so later she started delivering for Meals on Wheels with her daughter. As satisfying as this was, Jennifer still felt there was more she could do. In addition, she wanted to have more time to practice and learn yoga. So, she "asked" for this.

One day, Jennifer asked Jenni Leinweber about teaching yoga at Loveland Dance Academy. Jenni told Jennifer to "go for it". Since that day Monk Yoga has grown. Now, Jennifer finds she has many opportunities through Monk Yoga to raise funds for assorted charities.

Jennifer knows she has been given an opportunity to become more involved in her community and feels she has found her dharma. When practicing yoga, she connects mind, body and spirit.

Jennifer says, "Yoga has brought me awareness of the fact we are all connected and need each other. I teach yoga to learn and to also spread peace and wellbeing. When one practices yoga, one is peaceful. Please come join us for yoga classes. Together we are better parents, friends, and members of the world community. We are peaceful."

Christina Jackson--Hatha and Hatha Flow
It took a lot of convincing to get Christina to her first yoga class, but from the moment she first stepped on the mat, she hasn’t stopped practicing. Mentoring under her first teacher, she learned the basic asanas and how to share them with her friends. Then in 2005, Christina took the plunge and a month off from "reality" to pursue her 200-hour level training at Shoshoni Yoga Retreat.

Christina is certified in the Shambhava School of Yoga to teach Hatha yoga and is registered with Yoga Alliance. Her teaching experience "stretches" from health club atmospheres to dude ranches. Christina strives to share yoga in a “down to earth” style that embraces anyone and everyone that joins her on the mat.

Andrea Crowel--Vinyasa Yoga

Andrea is a Colorado native who practiced yoga for seven years before pursuing her passion to become an instructor.  As an avid runner, she also found that her asana practice gave her endurance, strength and longevity.  In 2004, after giving birth to her daughter, she began studying and practicing Vinyasa, which quickly became a source of inspiration for her. Andrea is drawn to the rhythmic pace and energy of Vinyasa  . Andrea loves sharing yoga with her 3 year old daughter and experiencing the pure exuberance and ability children have for yoga. Yoga has given Andrea balance of mind, body and spirit, as well as the opportunity to experience something new each time she practices or teaches. She feels honored to be able to give students the ability to find their own balance through this amazing practice. Andrea also teaches Vinyasa and Yoga Sculpt at Corepower Yoga in Ft Collins.

Mandy Szewczul--Vinyasa Hatha Yoga

Mandy first began learning yoga as a teenager, just for fun and for exercise. It wasn't until 6 years ago, however, when she began a daily practice, that she began to experience many more gifts yoga had to offer. Through a daily practice, Mandy found she was relieved of her chronic back pain, while also gaining balance, strength, and flexibility. She began reading extensively on the subject, which she found to be a tremendous asset to her personal practice. When she realized this amazing healing modality was a tool she wanted to share with others, she got her teaching certification at the Shambava School of Yoga. Having worked in psychiatry for several years, in alcohol and drug research, Mandy is particularly interested in the therapeutic use of yoga in combating addiction, reducing stress, and creating a sense of well-being. Mandy would like to express that yoga can benefit anyone, regardless of physical, mental, or spiritual state. If you can breath, you can practice yoga.

Marcy Wood -- Vinyasa

As a Boulder native, I grew-up "green". For college, I moved to San Diego where I discovered the tranquility of rowing. I ultimately graduated with a BA in Kinesiology from CU-Boulder and have been a wellness specialist ever since. I deeply value my Corepower certification under the guidance of Brandon Cox and have continued my Swadhyaya (edification) through Shiva Rea. My passions’ also include my husband and three young children.

“I have often been told that I am a natural healer with therapeutic instincts. I design classes around what I enjoy; enabling me to express my understanding of yoga. The beauty of yoga is found in personal awareness; this, in turn, fills me with light.”

Karen Alvarez  -- Vinyasa Focus and Mind-Body Balancing

“Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” These brilliant words by Confucius have been Karen’s guiding light for many years.  She began taking yoga in 2002 as a way to relax her body and mind, and energize her soul.  She practiced yoga on and off for several years while trying to keep up with a career in real estate.  However, it was not until her recent move to the Northern Colorado area in 2007 that she decided to follow her passion and make a career move to become a yoga instructor.

Yoga has helped guide Karen on her life journey by enabling her to recognize her authentic self as well as the immense importance of balancing the mind, body, and spirit.  More than anything, Karen would like to help others feel the same bliss she feels upon completion of a yoga practice.  She recently finished her 200 hour Certification with Corepower Yoga and is RYT registered.

Karen hopes that everyone that she has the opportunity to guide leaves with a new union and sense of self.  That they may have greater balance, strength, and flexibility not only while on the mat, but in every aspect of their lives.
